Emma is a dedicated and passionate advocate with a knack for resolving and de-escalating complex, contentious disputes. She joins Mathers McHenry & Co. from a leading commercial litigation boutique, where she spent years honing her litigation and problem-solving skills assisting individuals with complex commercial disputes, shareholder claims, partnership disputes, securities litigation and employment law matters.

Emma’s practice is now solely focused on representing employers, employees and partners on a wide range of complex and sensitive employment and workplace matters including wrongful and constructive dismissals, harassment and discrimination, and workplace accommodation. Emma also advises employers on human resources management matters, including employment contracts, workplace policies, workplace investigations, claims and complaints.

Clients describe Emma as a trusted advisor who takes the time to listen and understand their broader objectives. From there, she delivers tailored legal solutions that work towards their broader business and life goals. Emma’s commitment to clients is driven by a desire to provide exceptional and timely client service. While Emma works proactively with employers and employees to manage risk and avoid litigation, she is always ready to draw on her extensive litigation background where conflict arises.

Emma earned her law degree at Queen’s University, where she built up her advocacy skills as a competitive moot oralist and student caseworker at the Queen’s Law Clinic. Prior to law school, Emma completed a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction and worked in financial services.

Emma has appeared before a number of courts and tribunals, including the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Divisional Court, the Superior Court of Justice, the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (“CIRO”, formerly “IIROC”) and regularly appears before the Commercial List.
